Almost 1 in 5 UK companies (18%) are led by women in 2024. Let’s face it, we need more women in business.

That's why today, we look to Virginia 'Ginni' Rometty, an esteemed business executive who served as the executive chairman of IBM following her tenure as CEO. She retired after a remarkable nearly 40-year career on December 31, 2020.

We would love to hear about any women in business who inspire you!

On Friday our Junior Eco Council presented an assembly ahead of Earth Day on 22 April. The theme for this year is Planet vs Plastics!

Here are some interesting facts presented by the Eco Council at their assembly:

Most plastics start their life as a fossil fuel. Extracting the fossil fuel from the ground, refining it and making it into plastic produces an enormous amount of air pollution.

Plastics that aren’t disposed of properly pose a danger to all living creatures. Animals can be trapped by plastics or can make them sick if eaten. Millions of animals are killed by plastics each year.

Single use plastics are those that can’t be recycled. Landfills are filled with single use plastics that will take hundreds of years to break down. Other single use plastics are incinerated, causing a huge amount of air pollution.

Well done Eco Council!

Working together as a school and part of society: the key to solving these problems is to make mindful choices by reducing, reusing and recycling as much plastic as possible.

We just had to share this with you! Our #UpperI students had a trip to Beale Park, and we were amazed by their bravery! Some of them even took photos with a snake—imagine that! Not even some of our teachers wanted to get close!
