The Abbey GCSE results 2021

Will le Fleming, Head:

“The warmest congratulations to our Upper and Lower V (Year 11 and Year 10) cohorts for attaining an excellent set of GCSE results.

“During the most challenging, and unprecedented times, each student has shown resilience and agility in their studies, and those efforts have resulted in another set of strong exam results at The Abbey. There is so much to be proud of today – every grade has its own story and the way students have navigated through the past 18 months has been inspirational. They are such impressive young people.

“There is renewed hope that from September, students will return to a normality more familiar to us all, when we will once again witness, delight in and encourage their inquisitive approach to their A Level or IB studies.

“Sincere thanks go to our wonderful teaching staff. Their enthusiasm and commitment to supporting students, either in the classroom or remotely, was a major reason why our girls are today celebrating these wonderful results.

“Headline attainment, with 70% of all grades at 9-8 (A*) and almost 90% at 9-7 (A*/A), is in line with the excellent track record of The Abbey sustained over years of supporting our brilliant students – but our focus today is on the way this cohort has adapted and thrived. It is so much to their credit, and will stand them in good stead in all the adventures their futures hold.”
