Teacher of Philosophy and Theology

Job Overview

Location: Senior School

Philosophy and Theology is a well-established and highly valued subject at the School. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, including non-religious, Hindu, Christian and Islamic traditions. As soon as they join us in Upper III, students begin to navigate competing responses to ultimate questions, including the meaning, significance and impact on the lives of those who embrace them.

At Key Stage 3, students have a double period a week for Philosophy and Theology, in which we aim to provide an unrivalled, forward thinking, highly relevant, challenging and fulfilling curriculum that balances diverse breadth with authentic and rigorous depth.

The subject is very well-regarded across all year groups and there is an excellent uptake at GCSE, where students opt to study Islam and Christianity (Edexcel). At A-Level, students study Philosophy of Religion, Ethics and Developments in Christian Thought (OCR). The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in Philosophy (at standard or higher level) is also offered at Sixth Form and covers a wide range of exciting and contemporary topics.

This is a full time, permanent position starting in September 2024.
