At The Abbey, teaching and learning is a partnership between our staff, students and parents. Families are a child’s first educator and we seek to build on this firm foundation with you. Whether it’s a catch up at the beginning or the end of the day, a meeting with our staff, a phone call or an email. Come and chat with us! Our door is open.

Day to day, we invite you to stay in touch via email, phone, in Nursery and Reception through our online platform Tapestry, or for older students through homework diaries. As a wider community, we stay in contact through biweekly SchoolPost messages on our Parent Portal, newsletters and social media.

Every half term, through either a Full Report, Grade Card, Parents’ Meeting or Workshop, we communicate with you in a more formal way about your child’s progress and our learning environment. Our workshops are an opportunity for us to share with you our teaching practice and philosophy; opening dialogue between us. In Nursery this could be a Communication and Physical Development Workshop, in Reception a Literacy Event and in Lower Prep a Maths Evening. As our students move through the school, parent workshops open up conversations about our pedagogy and provide a space for conversation about current issues such as e-Safety and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE).

As a community we host a wide range of events throughout the academic year for parents, students and staff to enjoy together. Whether it’s a Christmas Tea in Upper Prep, a Teddy Bear’s Picnic in Nursery or performances and recitals, events at The Abbey are full of life, buzzing with creativity and an opportunity to celebrate our student body.
