Hannah goes for gold at the Welsh Open

8 October 2019

Crossing the border into Wales spurred Lower V (Year 10) student Hannah on to win three gold medals at a pistol shooting tournament.

Hannah has outdone herself once again, winning two individual events and the team gold at the Welsh Open over the weekend. This is a three-day competition, and on the first day she scored a new Personal Best of 557/600, beating her previous PB by five points. This is a great improvement, and was a fantastic start to the event!

Her success in Wales means that Hannah is now ranked as the best U21 female pistol shooter in England, and 3rd in the UK.

A huge achievement, this is something to be immensely proud of. However, it is important to remember that winning isn’t everything, and the life-experience that Hannah gains from competitions like this will be invaluable for her going forward. The Abbey is committed to producing well-rounded students, and Hannah is certainly one of them. Well done!
