UIV pupils spread Charity Week cheer

4 October 2019

Every year our Upper IV (Year 9) pupils take part in a fun-filled week of charity events. This year was no different, as each day this week a different event was hosted in support of the elected UIV charity, Mary’s Meals.

Each form decided on a particular way of raising money, and were allocated one day each this week to carry out their exciting plans. Activities ranged from bake sales and games, to a car wash and a lip sync battle amongst some of the teachers!

Formerly known as Scottish International Relief, Mary’s Meals works to set up and maintain school feeding programmes in poor communities across the world, in an effort to reduce hunger and poverty preventing children from gaining an education. The Abbey has been supporting this charity for a number of years now, and we are proud of how much support the pupils give to charitable causes.

All the girls had a fantastic time planning and executing their ideas, especially knowing that it was all in aid of charity. Pupil Ami said: “We’ve had a great week making memories and raising lots of money!”
