Success of Junior School Online Festivals

During the past fortnight, The Abbey Junior School has held two Virtual Interactive Learning Festivals. Last week, The Junior School launched the The Festival of Inquiry, which included a week’s worth of fun activities for students, based around inquiry-led learning.

The week began with an introduction and webinar from world-renowned educationalist, Kath Murdoch. Students enjoyed investigating the rate of diffusion in a Science session, led by Mrs Jones; creating Art out of household objects and clothing with Mrs Munton;and constructing musical instruments out of household objects with the Music Department.

This week, the Early Years has hosted Winter Wonder Week, where the children enjoyed creating and decorating Christmas Tree ornaments out of salt dough. They were also offered the chance to virtually bake with the Junior School Catering Department, making a shortbread Christmas Tree and Candy Cane lollipops.

Everyone who signed up and participated thoroughly enjoyed themselves and a big thank you goes to all of the teachers and staff that helped make these two virtual events so successful!
