Our Sixth Form Charity prefects have been busy raising funds and having fun - here they tell us about their recent Charity Quiz. On Friday 27 January we, the charity prefects, hosted a Charity Quiz entitled ‘All Around The World’. The event was in aid of Camfed (which is tackling poverty and inequality by supporting girls to go to school, in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi) and Berkshire Autistic Society (which deliver quality specialist services, training and social and leisure activities throughout the county, guided by a team of trustees with personal and professional experience of autism). The hall was decorated with world flags and full of both parents and Abbey girls who came to support these great charities.
As we had a range of ‘quiz abilities’, the rounds were suited to all the age groups at the event. The quiz consisted of 9 rounds of both amusing and challenging questions and brought out people’s competitive side. The rounds were themed around the world as well, which the quizzers really enjoyed. Mr Willis proved to be an excellent quiz master. A raffle and an auction full of generous donations such as London Irish tickets, signed Reading FC shirt and headphones, contributed to the excitement of the evening. Themed nibbles from the seven continents around the world were served which proved to be very popular. While organising the event, we thought we would come across many hurdles while arranging such a big event but actually while working as a team we didn’t meet many difficulties.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this very entertaining evening!Back to newsroom
