On Friday 29 September, Upper One spent their day exploring the deepest secrets of the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology in Oxford. In the morning, we discovered the treasures of the Ancient Sumer, which was the southernmost part of Mesopotamia. We saw some beautiful art from the period and learnt that there are still mysteries surrounding ancient writing. In the afternoon, we had a gallery hunt focused on British Prehistory and spoke to real archaeologists about how we get evidence from ancient objects. It was a fascinating opportunity to handle some real ancient artefacts and talk to knowledgeable experts. Overall a fantastic experience!
