Will le Fleming, Head:

“We are very proud of the results attained by all our students. We are pleased that in the great majority of cases our students’ hard work and dedication during their time at The Abbey has been recognised in the standardisation process and we congratulate them as they continue their learning journey at leading universities around the UK.

Junior School News

The Junior School ran “through the decades” in celebration of The Abbey’s 130th anniversary in their 13th annual Fun Run at Cintra Park. Girls donned accessories from decades past as they sprinted round the park. There were suffragettes, flower children and aerobics queens, with the teachers in particular getting into the swing of things.

As each year group negotiated the course, they were met with obstacles – a new feature this year – including hay bales to jump, bubbles to pop and the scarily accurate water cannons, which were actually rather welcome on such a gloriously sunny day. They ran past signs depicting the major inventions, happenings and celebrities of each decade.

There was fun for everyone, whether they were contesting the winners’ podium or holding hands with their friends as they ran – true Abbey spirit was on show.

After the girls’ races the teachers got to show off their fancy dress as they took on a relay including sports old and new – lacrosse, tennis and the ‘stick and hoop’.

When the winners were announced the PE staff had a few more surprises up their sleeves, with the podium being covered in silly string, party poppers, balloons, and water.

Every single person who competes in the fun run wins points for their house, so no matter whether you come first, or last, you’re doing your bit. When all the points were added together this year, it was a win for Carrington!

Well done to everyone who took part in our fun run – a splendid Abbey tradition and a wonderful way to mark our 130th anniversary.
