Our Reception pupils travelled the world from the safety of Abbey Gardens, through an interactive drama workshop with Perform.
The day started off with both reception classes participating in individual workshops, before the two groups came together for their final adventure. The children dramatised a journey from country to country using different modes of transport, picking up different items along the way. From pretending to get the train to Spain for castanets, to flying to take photographs of the Mona Lisa in Paris, the girls learned about the best ways to explore overseas.
Perform is a London-based drama school focussing on bringing confidence-boosting drama classes into the school-curriculum. Today’s event was run by Charlotte, who explained how the company really works to teach new things whilst ensuring that the children have fun. For example, this travel-themed workshop included learning about how planes need engines, wings, wheels and pilots all to make them run smoothly.
The event was a roaring success, with the girls running, jumping and creeping around to collect all the items they needed for their adventure. Through acting and playing a variety of games, the pupils had a great morning whist learning more about the world around them.
