A Level results 2020

Will le Fleming, Head:

“We are very proud of the results attained by all our students. We are pleased that in the great majority of cases our students’ hard work and dedication during their time at The Abbey has been recognised in the standardisation process and we congratulate them as they continue their learning journey at leading universities around the UK.

With a vibrant display of artwork and canapés ready and waiting, the Hardcastle Hall gradually filled with excited alumnae and current students last Saturday for our 130th Year Head Girls’ Afternoon Tea. Framed by our milestone anniversary, the event saw an afternoon of eating, drinking and celebrating our former Head Girls’ contribution to The Abbey story and their journeys since leaving. As the prosecco flowed, it was wonderful to see over 30 Abbey Head Girls, spanning five decades right up to 2017, mingling and sharing fond stories of their time at school, comparing both the similarities and those things that have changed greatly.

After a jaunt through the corridors and the (very) different Sixth Form block, our Head Girls gathered in the Lecture Theatre for an address by our Head, Mrs Dent, before continuing on for some ever anticipated tours. Returning back to the Hardcastle Hall for tea and scones, the buzz of the room confirmed to us that The Abbey is and remains a very special place within the hearts of our girls and staff, both past and present. To top off a special afternoon, guests gathered in front of our iconic front doors for an obligatory group photo before final goodbyes were said. We were so delighted to honour our heritage with so many past leaders of The Abbey community at this special event, and can’t wait to see more of you at our Grand Reunion in October!
