Lower IV Reading Challenge – Around the World in Eighty Books

This year, the Library is working with the Lower IV team to provide an exciting reading challenge to the Lower IV students.

The students are required to read twenty five books during the academic year, which forms part of the Motiv8 challenge set by Lower IV Head of Year and tutors.

Eighty books have been carefully selected from the library from a range of fiction and non-fiction, including texts from our audio and eBook subscription.

To fulfil the requirements of the challenge, the students select twenty-five books with a specific number being stipulated across the different genres; they may include their own books from home too. What is particularly exciting about this challenge is that the theme is other cultures.

The challenge was devised by Ms Wenman to encourage extracurricular reading and to keep the students in touch with the library as it is temporarily a Sixth Form zone.

The other benefit of the challenge is a reminder that, despite travel restrictions at this current time, we can still learn about our wonderful world through the magic of a book.

It is anticipated that the Lower IV will be successful at meeting this challenge; Gemma in LIVS read forty books by March during the Fiction 40 challenge last year and has shown what is possible when you set your mind to it! Well done, Gemma!

Lower IV should use the booklet and reading list in their Library Google Classroom for guidance on the challenge.
