Charity and Community Service

An important part of our girls’ education, is the recognition that we need to take our place in the world; that we often find ourselves in service for others. All girls are therefore encouraged and many girls are very enterprising and willing to help others.

An important enterprise is the Homework Support Group run in conjuction with Reading Refugee Support. Many of our older girls stay after school two nights a week to provide one-to-one support with school and homework.

Our charity fund-raising is organised by the Charity prefects. These girls give unstintingly for two terms, organising events, large and small, and helping younger girls with their fund-raising ideas. During the course of the year, among others, we run a Microloan month in November, masterminded by Mr Lovibond; a silly hat day and a sleepover with the UIIIs that supports St Mungos and a sixth-form, staff and parents quiz nights that raises funds for our nominated school charities. This year these are The Malala Fund and Launchpad.
