IB CAS Introduction Day

On Monday 7 September, the IB girls met at the Oakwood Centre for a hands-on induction day full of equal parts fun and information.

It was great to see so many of our friends again and to get to know some new girls too! We also met Miss McDonald, who’s the new Director of IB, and she talked us through the IB Learner Profile.

With some of the information digested, we headed out in two teams to do some low ropes team building, challenging our communication skills and logic!

Kate, LVI (Year 12)

As well as having some fun outdoors, we focused on the central parts of the IB which make up ‘The Core’. We discussed CAS, Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay, as well as Gold DofE. It was a very informative day and lots of helpful tips were shared to ensure we succeed in Sixth Form. We also had the chance to meet the new Head, Mr le Fleming, who came to visit for part of the day.

The Abbey’s IB programme continues to go from strength to strength. This summer the School achieved an average student score of 40 points (world average is 30 points). This places The Abbey as one of the top ten IB Schools globally for results.
