HEAD’S VIEW

Head's View

20 September 2019

Spending a day in the Sixth Form (and making the most of freshly baked tomato and cheese croissants in the new café), our Upper V students looked right at home: relaxed, engaged with taster lessons in exciting new subjects such as Global Politics and Psychology, and already imagining how they might begin to create a programme of study tailored to them. We are looking forward to spending time listening to their ideas and sharing all the possibilities ahead in the Next Steps interviews over the coming weeks. Thank you, parents, for making the time to come in and share in these conversations.

One clear message I hope they and all our pupils took away from Tuesday’s superb assembly led by former Head Girls Jana and Annalise was that it doesn’t matter at all that they don’t yet know which doors they want to push open as they step ahead into the future: both speakers explained eloquently how taking one next step had led to other opportunities – the important point was to be ready to grasp these.

My warmest thanks to all those who helped at our busy Open Evening last night. I will share with the girls some of the wonderful comments we had about our Tour Guides, subject helpers and performers: they simply are our greatest ambassadors. For those on taxi duties, thank you for your patience in the car park as we sought to see all our younger tour guides safely home mid-evening.

Another day or so of this lovely September sunshine: I hope you have a chance to enjoy it this weekend.
