This week, our LV (Year 10) GCSE Geographers spent a very productive day measuring the downstream changes in the River Chess based on Bradshaw’s model. They learnt lots of new techniques which included how to measure width, depth, wetted perimeter, and water velocity as well as pebble size and shape, whilst trying not to get their wellies too full of water!

The students also reflected on the techniques they had used throughout the day, and thought about how they could have made their field work more accurate and more reliable. They are now presenting the data they collected, analysing their results and drawing conclusions about the downstream changes in preparation for their final examination.
