Exploring The Ashmolean with Lower I

By Mr Page, Junior School Teacher. 16 October 2019

Lower I (Year 3) visited The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford as part of their ‘Exploration and Migration’ focus in Humanities.

Through group inquiry, the girls predicted the original purpose of ancient artefacts, and discussed the history of an authentic mummy and tomb. They also explored Holman Hunt’s painting, ‘The Afterglow in Egypt’, providing a visual insight into the past.

Perri-Jane, LIP, said: “I was very excited to see the mummies in their sarcophagus as it was very interesting.”
