The aroma of cinnamon and orange wreaths, mulled wine and gingerbread drifted down the School’s corridors as we welcomed over 40 stalls and hundreds of guests to our Christmas Market.

The day was jam packed with fun activities including an enchanting Santa’s grotto, face painting and performances from our Junior School choirs. For the first time we also had our own present wrapping service – Elfridges – where children could have the presents they purchased for their family wrapped in secret. With the large selection of stalls to buy from, our elves were kept very busy!

The stalls also provided a wonderful opportunity to support some of our talented Abbey alumna, students and staff. Emma Alington (2007) showcased her stunning handcrafted ceramics, whilst students from Young Enterprise built capital for their businesses by selling a variety of stocking fillers. Abbey staff also displayed their creative side with knitted dinosaurs and pet bow ties on offer!

The proceeds from the Christmas Market will be divided between Ufulu, a Malawi-based charity started by Abbey alumna Widge Woolsey that is looking to alleviate period poverty, and The Abbey’s 1887 Fund for bursaries. The 1887 Fund helps to support girls who might otherwise not be able to enjoy an Abbey education.
