The girls were Helen (Captain), Kathryn, Shree, Eleanor, Jigya and Prisha. The popularity of the tournament continues to grow and this year 54 teams from around Britain, and one of the best in Ireland, took part.

The Abbey team is young and relatively inexperienced and they were unlucky to be drawn against some of the best teams in the tournament. However they managed to win their second round match 5-1 against St. John’s, Enfield and their last match 4.5-1.5 against St. Thomas More High School. Jigya won three of her matches and Helen and Shree won two. The girls were playing against some of the best school chess players in the country so they will have gained valuable experience for the future.
