An inspiring trip for our Art Scholars

By Chloe and Bella. 27 September 2019

The Abbey Art Scholars recently went on a trip to The National Portrait Gallery in London, as our theme for this year is portraits. We arrived in Trafalgar Square in the morning on a bright and sunny Saturday.

First we went to the BP portrait award (which was extremely busy). We saw lots of different varieties of portraits, and we all took our sketch books so that we could sit down quietly and do some drawing. We were also allowed to take photos. Throughout the gallery there was lots of different varieties of portrait, they had work from the Tudor period all the way through to very modern artwork, so there was something for everyone.

It was a very popular trip, and Monica, Upper III (Year 7) commented “It was very inspiring and the artwork was incredibly creative. I really enjoyed the trip, and would definitely go again.”
