New Head Girls take up their posts at The Abbey

The Abbey’s Head Girls play an important role in leading the student body and working with staff to ensure that pupils’ views are represented. After an exceedingly busy and successful year Annalise and Fran this morning handed over their responsibilities to Jana and Emma, who will be Head Girls for the coming year.

Mrs Dent thanked Annalise and Fran for their support over the past year, praising their patience, enthusiasm and excellent sense of humour. As Annalise has already commenced her final IB Diploma examinations, Fran spoke on behalf of them both to thank this year’s School officers for their hard work. She also thanked the Senior staff members with whom they’ve worked closely, remarking that they will miss their Friday afternoon meetings. Handing over to the new Head Girls and officer team, Fran wished them the best of luck with their new role.

Jana and Emma were presented with their beautifully enamelled Head Girls’ badges and reiterated Mrs Dent’s appreciation for everything that the officer team has done this year. They looked forward to the many events that they will be involved with, particularly to finding out which House Captain will be the fastest at Sports Day! They shared their wish that the coming year would embody everything that The Abbey’s warm, dynamic community is about and finished by wishing Upper V and Upper VI girls the best of luck with their exams.

The assembly concluded with the School reading from St Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, followed by St Hilda’s blessing.
