"On Tuesday 15 September, LVI visited The University of Surrey to get a feel for student life at a campus university. Named as The Times University of the Year 2015, the university has excellent facilities and beautiful grounds, complete with a natural lake. We were offered a tour of its £36 million sports park by enthusiastic student ambassadors and were impressed to discover that it is hosting the Italian and Irish rugby teams for the Rugby World Cup this year. The presentation on applications and student life was useful and allowed us to see what a university lecture theatre looks like. We also enjoyed a tour of the university campus, and had the opportunity to look at some student accommodation, as well as the library and the simulation suite, where students studying medical courses develop and practise their clinical skills.
After lunch, we were offered a choice of talks to attend from the business, psychology, law and engineering departments. I went to the talk on business and found out more about the course and some of the exciting opportunities it can lead to both in the UK and abroad. Overall, the day was very informative and provided a useful insight into university study and campus life."
