Trans spent a happy day earlier this month engaged in a variety of Spanish-related activities, from dancing and singing to painting and eating continental cuisine! Girls learned about the Flamenco dance and enjoyed some amazing demonstrations by Ms Almazan, a qualified Flamenco dancer, accompanied on the guitar by Mrs Ness, both Abbey mums. The girls also enjoyed participating and learning some basic steps and arm movements whilst wearing their own pretty dresses, many of them in the traditional polka dot print. At lunch, girls tried some typical Spanish dishes including paella and churros con chocolate.
After letting their food go down, Trans sprang into action making their own Picasso-inspired head sculptures, led by Mrs Harvey. Girls sketched their friend’s faces from different viewpoints before creating and then painting their own cardboard models. Much fun was had by all and a huge gracias to everyone involved!
