Reception had a great day exploring the woods at The Look Out Discovery Centre. Despite an overcast start to the day the sun was shining by the afternoon and the girls were able to join in with lots of activities from a selection of Julia Donaldson books.
The girls made brilliant broomsticks and were able to fit all the characters on from the story Room on the Broom. After sharing the story of the Gruffalo in class we created animal footprints using natural objects found in the woods. The girls made stickmen which they hung on the ‘Family Tree’ for the Stick Man, his wife and their children to play with. After lunch sometime was spent inside discovering different areas within the Look Out Science exhibition.
To round the day off nicely we came together to play ‘One, two, three, where are you?’ which gave the girls the opportunity to find suitable places to hide whilst working within a small team. What a great way to have fun in the woods!
