Lower III girls study evolution at the Cole Museum

Lower III girls enjoyed an extra dimension to their Science topic of Adaptation and Evolution with a visit to the Cole Museum at The University of Reading. Each form went at a different time in the week so they had lots of space to see all the exhibits and to pursue their own interests, including starfish, Mammoth tusks and dinosaur eggs. Many girls remembered their Upper I visit to the Cole two years ago when they studied the similarities and differences of vertebrate skeletons. This time, they worked in small groups to collect information about when and how the various branches of the animal tree of life evolved. In what has now become a tradition for this visit, Mrs Kershaw helped the girls to create their own versions of the well -known Ascent of Man/March of Progress graphic. A big thank you also to parents who accompanied us on this visit to such a valuable resource just a five-minute drive away.
