LIIIP explore International Women’s Day

In a continuation of our empowering theme from last week, our LIIIP girls dedicated their assembly to International Women’s Day this morning, further exploring the inspirational women we admire from around the world and throughout time. Focussing on both well-known female figures, such as J.K Rowling and Malala Yousafzia, and lesser-known ones, such as Arminka Helic and Fanny Mendelssohn, the girls emphasised that resilience and determination can help you achieve amazing things.

This being said, it was also recognised that much work lies ahead of us in the pursuit of equality and equity in the wider world, with equal opportunities and rewards between men and women remaining a complicated arena. It was very impressive to hear the girls talk about their future aspirations, and their effort to research and script the assembly entirely on their own was appreciated by all. To top it off, a well synchronised dance to ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves’ certainly brightened this slightly dreary morning! Well done LIIIP.
