About the 1887 Lecture Series

The Music Annual Showcase and Lecture

Every year we are privileged to receive professional musicians to perform at The Abbey. The performers run a Q & A session with the girls before the concert, offering invaluable insight into their work and repertoire. Internationally renowned pianists Simon Lepper and Roger Vignoles are regular visitors and they have accompanied acclaimed artists including Dame Felicity Palmer, Nicky Spence, Raphaela Papdakis and Kate Royal.

The Jo Trott Annual Memorial Lecture

Jo Trott taught Biology at The Abbey for over 25 years. She was an inspirational teacher whose love of her subject led many of her students to pursue Sciences at University and beyond, providing an enduring legacy in her name. For the inaugural Jo Trott Memorial Lecture in 2017 we welcomed naturalist and television presenter Miranda Krestovnikoff (Abbey alumna 1991). Future lectures will continue to focus on Science and Enterprise and will be held in the Spring term.

The Giddings Annual Lecture

The Giddings Lecture focuses on Classics and is held in the Autumn term.
